Sally qualified from Edinburgh in 1996 and worked in mixed practice for 3½ years starting in Cheshire, slowly moving further south towards the sunshine and in 2000 joined Woodhorn Veterinary Centre, a farm only veterinary practice in West Sussex near Chichester. After several mergers and name changes the practice was taken over by WestPoint in 2008, so not being of corporate mentality joined The Livestock Partnership in its inaugural year and helped create their proactive farm animal practice. So, although there were many different names on Sally’s shirts she has worked with the same farms and clients for over 16 years.
She spent those years working with all aspects of farm animal practice but has always had a strong interest in dairy farming especially in fertility and mastitis. Sally enjoyed leading on-farm training sessions for farmers and has been running a dairy discussion group with local farmer Jon Proctor for the past 8 years. She joined Endell Farm Vets in December 2016 to be part of the team setting up the RVC student teaching rotation and although leaving the farms she knew well was hard, Sally is relishing the challenge of teaching. Hopefully she will be able to inspire a few more farm animal vets for the future and is looking forward to meeting the Endell clients and getting to know new farms and their systems.
